Flattr beta – let them share cake

February 15th, 2010 by mal

Here is a new idea from one of the founders of Pirate Bay, Peter Sunde. The Flattr system hopes to monetise content providers via micro payments from visitors to websites. Think Digg but with content providers making cash from the clicks. Check out the video.

It’s a simple enough system based entirely on good will. You have to admire the certainty, that people want to reward and spend their cash in this way. One to watch.

Do you want iPad with that?

February 10th, 2010 by mal

As the iPad wings its way from factory to Apple outlets, developers should be preparing to convert apps so they work well on the new device, this could take some time and not all will get an iPad update.

While the iPad will play existing apps in a window at 1x zoom or at x2 zoom, it won’t be easy to interact with some games in either mode. This will lead to a poor user experience.

Trigger Happy Christmas Hits the AppStore

November 30th, 2009 by Lee

Woohoo, Apple have just approved Trigger Happy Christmas. AS it was the first release for iPhone we’ve done on our own, I’m pretty glad it has all gone well. At only $0.99, you really should go and buy it; what better way to spend December than by getting Santa to flamethrower a bunch of elves to death.

Click here to go to the AppStore.

If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, than have a goosey:

Project Aftermath patch 1.21 released

November 16th, 2009 by Lee

In order to get Project Aftermath onto the D2D ‘Best of Indie’ bundle, I had to make a new build of the game. Unbeknown to me, between making the original version of 1.20 and this specific one, Microsoft had released a security update which changed the default version of the CRT runtimes that Visual Studio would link against. This essentially broke the installed version of PA if you didn’t happen to have this latest security update. Usually, I check every build on a completely fresh install of XP without the latest security fixes but I forgot to do that this time. I won’t be forgetting again :)

Anyway, the fix I used was one detailed in this blog (http://tedwvc.wordpress.com/2009/08/10/avoiding-problems-with-vc2005-sp1-security-update-kb971090/) which seemed to me to be the easiest way of going about it.

The game launcher should recognise that there is a new version available and offer to download it for you. If that doesn;t work for some reason then =you can download it directly from this link: (PA_Patch_1.21.exe)

Announcing Trigger Happy Christmas

November 9th, 2009 by mal

THC_Icon_reflect

We submitted Trigger Happy Christmas to Apple late Friday night.

All being well we could see THC live in the AppStore around the 21st of November! Follow us on Twitter to make sure you don’t miss out on the release :)

Whats it all about then?
The elves have gone bad, again, and are trying to ruin Christmas by stealing all the presents. They’ve hot-wired the sleigh, which is flying around uncontrollably, spilling its contents all over the place.

Santa is running hither and thither trying to gather them back up again but, quite frankly, he’s had his fill of the thieving blighters. Time to dust off “Olde Persuader”!

A little help from above
He’s not alone though. While trying furiously to bring the sleigh under control, Rudolph is also on hand to supply Santa with the a few more ‘persuasive’ tools. You know, like flame-throwers, grenade launchers… that type of thing!

Safe and sound
Santa has constructed a tool to help save the presents from the naughty Elves. The Tele-Present 2000. Once Santa has stacked 5 presents it’s activated, beaming the presents safely back to the workshop.

We can stop the Elves, Christmas will be saved!
